New and improved homepage, ready for coding!
I have changed the colours a little bit, made it less pink. Also changed the logo a little bit so it fits better on the page.
Logo and Navigation
The logo and the navigation. I have no idea how I am going to code this type of navigation though!

I have the layout done but I am stuck on the navigation. I don’t want it to look boring but then I don’t want to overwhelm the page with images and buttons. I like the colour scheme and have substituted the dark turquoise for a mint green.
Si Scott Lecture
This was the first time I have been to to Si Scott lecture, but not the first time I have spoken to him. To cut a long story short he wanted to buy one of my self promotion tea towels at last years DNA event, unfortunately I wasn’t there so no one wanted to sell it to him without my permission. Anyway when I found out I had a bit of a “ohmygod” moment and deiced to email him so I...
Website colour Scheme.
I have been looking into colour schemes for my new portfolio website.
This is the one I have the the moment…
but these are the colours I am favoring…
With this one being the winner…
All my favourite colours, grey, pink and turquoise .
Portfolio websites-Research
A list of websites I can take inspiration from.
1.http://www.sarahmick.com/
I love everything about this website, the colours, the layout, the logo and the work! Sarah Mick has a lot of work, to organise it all the navigation is split up into categories. With the navigation on the left the selected project appears to the right, clicking “next” and “previous” you can...
My current website
www.emmawdesign.co.uk
This is the website I have at the moment, it does the job but it is a bit boring and plain. This final Pro Con brief will help me improve the design and help develop my own brand and identity. Things I want to improve:
The layout. I want my projects to be shown in more detail.
The navigation. Maybe split up my projects in to categories.
The branding. I need a more...
Interview at Creative Lynx.
Today I attended a placement interview at Creative Lynx in Manchester. I met Steven and his colleague and we went over my portfolio in a bit more detail. Both seemed impressed with the work I have done and commented that I am good at branding, which is something they do at Creative Lynx. When discussing a placement they suggested it would be best to have a solid 2 or 3 week placement instead of a...
Self promotion- valentines cupcakes.
I developed my cupcake business card idea and started to create a small campaign. I am not sure where I am going with this, I just sort of created a mini brief for myself. I can hand them out at networking events or placement interviews ( who says you can’t bribe someone with cakes) . So here are my valentines cupcakes, cards and packaging…
Diary 7th Feb
For the first half of the day Andy went through our portfolio pdf and discussed which sector of graphic design we want to work in. Personally I think I will work best in branding, marketing and print. The sheet we received had a list design companies, interview tips, website tips and generally tips on how to get into the industry. I found it really helpful. The interview tips will help me with my...

Self Promotion
There are a few DNA networking events coming up so I thought it would be a good idea to design a few business cards. These are only a rough mock-up and I still have no idea what to do for my FMP, but they will work for now.
